About Street Beat Brass

Street Beat Brass has played at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, FIFA World Cup matches, toured abroad for the US State Department, opened for the New York Philharmonic, and made over a dozen TV appearances including ABC's Good Morning America.  A staple at large sporting events, it has also played at every Kentucky Derby since 2019 (skipping 2020 for covid), every NYC Five Boro Bike Tour since 2015, LIV Golf Tournaments, NYC Marathon, and a Formula E race. Lead by New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Fellow Jeff Fairbanks, this strolling brass band plays a diverse range of music, from New Orleans Jazz and NoLaFunk to Latin Jazz, Pop, Polka, Gospel, and Klezmer.  Formed in 2012, the band has performed at nearly 300 different venues, with clientele including over 150 corporations and over 40 event/branding companies.  It has been honored to perform at events headlined by the likes of Jim Gaffigan, Seth Rogen, Michael Strahan and more.

Unlike most bands, Street Beat Brass can stroll and march un-tethered to electric chords, amps, stages, etc. No one forgets seeing and hearing the high-energy spectacle of its roving musical party train!  Consisting of trumpet, sax, trombone, sousaphone, and drums, it is completely acoustic and mobile enough to play any type of event, such as strolling, processionals, parades, leading a Nola second line, as well as parties, concerts, church services, traditional music venues, and more.  Each hand-picked member is also a conservatory-trained Jazz musician who can improvise creatively off the written tunes, adding their individual voice. When not performing with Street Beat, you may find its members variously playing in Broadway shows, teaching at prestigious music schools, and performing and recording as freelancers throughout NYC.

Street Beat's repertoire includes many originals as well as familiar tunes from each tradition’s songbook, arranged in its unique, urban and energetic vibe.  It's first album Get in the Beat (Big Sky Press) was released in 2018, and its second album, of all-original music, has been recorded and is currently under post-production.  Join our email list to get updates.
