What does the band wear?
Q: Can the band use social distancing?
A: Yes. We can stay at least 6 ft apart from each other and guests. Our drummers wear masks the whole time, and horns wear masks when not playing. We can cover our horns too to help avoid the spread of aerosols.
Q: What type of events does the band perform?
A: We do just about anything. Weddings, parties, funerals, corporate events, parades, concerts, shows, cruises and more. If you name it we've probably already done it.
Q: Can you march or Second Line?
A: Yes! We march, stroll, roam, etc. For Nola style Second Line processions to patriotic Main Street parades.
Q: What style of music do you play?
A: A lot. From New Orleans Jazz to Swing, Funk, NoLaFunk, Latin Jazz, Polka, Patriotic, Klezmer, Gospel. Also selected Rock and Pop covers, and TV and film themes.
Q: What songs do you play?
A: Our song list is found here. In addition, we play most Jazz standards, which are too many to list. Any requests must be made in advance.
Q: Do you take requests?
A: When at least our 5-piece band is hired, we can prepare up to two songs outside our normal repertoire, with at last two weeks' written notice.
Q: What equipment does the band need?
A: Usually nothing. We can play totally acoustically and don't need electricity or sound equipment, even for large venues. If client requires such equipment they will be asked to provide it. (Usually large venues will have a sound system).
Q: Do you have insurance?
A: If client or venue requires event insurance, we can obtain the required Certificate of Insurance (COI) and forward it to you. This adds usually $100-180 to your cost depending on event location and size.
Q: How do I book Street Beat Brass?
A: Start by filling out the above form and clicking submit. You don't have to have every detail planned out but it's helpful if you can list the date, location, start time, and event type. We'll respond ASAP with a quote and go from there.
Q: How and when do I pay?
A: Our quote will have instructions on how to pay a 50% deposit. Either online via Venmo or Quickpay, or with enough lead time, mailed check. This deposit will book and secure the band for the date and time of your event.
Q: Will I get a contract or invoice?
A: We will provide a written contract covering the event basics and what is to be expected of the band at the event. Both parties sign. We can also provide an invoice when requested.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: In most cases, if you cancel more than two months prior to event date you'll get a refund -- minus a $200 service charge. If you cancel within two months, there will not be a refund.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We have a rain or shine policy and do not issue refunds for poor weather. For outdoor events we strongly recommend clients make alternate indoor arrangements or adequate coverings in case of poor weather. We can perform outside in a light drizzle but not heavy rain and not within 30 minutes of a lightning strike.
Q: What does the band wear?
A: The band can wear either formal black suits with ties, or our more casual and colorful look of slacks and buttoned shirts.
